The former chieftain of the APC,Tom Ikimi has been arrested by the anti-graft agency for his role
in the arms deal scam.
Although, more than
20 prominent politicians have been invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) since the investigation into the diversion of $2.1 billion
meant for the procurement of arms to fight insurgency during former President
Goodluck Jonathan’s administration started.
So far, only one
person from the All Progressives Congress, Gen. Lawal Ja’afaru Isa (rtd), has
been arrested, the others are members of the Peoples Democratic Party. Isa, a
close political associate of President Muhammadu Buhari was arrested in
connection with the misappropriation of funds in the Office of the National
Security Adviser (ONSA) under Jonathan’s administration. He was later released
after he returned the money he got to the EFCC.
